Temples to size

These temples are based on equipment I saw in Southeast Asia.  I first noticed them in Laos, they were used under the cloth, out of the way of weft inlay butterflies that were manipulated on top of the cloth at the fell line.  I later saw them in Northern Thailand placed on top of the cloth out of the way of the weft butterflies that were manipulated under the fell line.  They are also used on the Cambodian hol and were used both on top and on bottom of the cloth.

Temples for light weight cloths

The Lao had simple bamboo sticks with pins twined onto the sticks and also the carved bamboo points shown at the left.  I took the liberty of adding scotch tape to hold everything in place.  Works well!

Balsa sticks I use come from a model train store.  You can spend hours contemplating the density of a stick for a temple! Toughest thing to do is cut it to the proper width.  Experiment!

I will post more photos later of the Lao, Cambodian and Thai temples in use when I pull them from my archives!
